Unit UT586+ is a digital RCD tester by UNI-T designed to verify the function of single-phase and three-phase residual current devices (RCDs); it measures the fault trip time and the trip current. With the ×½, ×1, ×2 and ×5 multipliers, rated currents of 10, 20, 30, 100, 200, 300, 500 and 1000 mA are tested (the available currents depend on the multiplier); the trip time accuracy is ±0.6% rdg ±4 dgt. The test can be started on the positive (0°) or negative (180°) half-cycle, and the AUTO RAMP test measures the trip current and time together. The working voltage is 100–440 V, and the L-PE voltage is displayed in the 30–480 V range at ±3% rdg ±3 dgt. It provides a measurement lock, a connection check, over-temperature detection, a backlight and automatic power off after 5 minutes, and runs on 8 AA batteries. Its safety category is CAT III 600 V, and the standards are IEC 61010-031 and IEC 61557-1 and -6. The tester is used for RCD checks in residential, educational, power, manufacturing, metallurgical and chemical sectors.
