Analog Potentiometers
An analog potentiometer is an adjustment element mounted on the panel door, in which the wiper slides over the resistance track when the knob is turned, changing the resistance ratio. It is connected to the analog reference input of frequency inverters and similar drives to set the motor speed or another setpoint manually. Models with a 22 mm mounting diameter predominate in this category; single-turn and multi-turn types with resistance values such as 1 kΩ, 2.2 kΩ, 5 kΩ, 10 kΩ and 100 kΩ are listed from EMAS, Isıso, Konsan and Tense. Select the resistance value by the value required in the drive manual, the number of turns by the adjustment sensitivity, the housing by the mounting diameter and the IP rating required by the environment. Multi-turn models sweep the same range over more turns, so they are preferred where fine adjustment is needed. An analog potentiometer does not generate a signal on its own and must not be confused with a powered digital potentiometer that gives a 0-10 V or 4-20 mA output.

How to choose Analog Potentiometers
An analog potentiometer is an adjustment element mounted on the panel door, in which the wiper slides over the resistance track when the knob is turned, changing the resistance ratio. It is connected to the analog reference input of frequency inverters and similar drives to set the motor speed or another setpoint manually.
- Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
- Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
- Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
Frequently asked questions
What is Analog Potentiometers and where is it used?
An analog potentiometer is an adjustment element mounted on the panel door, in which the wiper slides over the resistance track when the knob is turned, changing the resistance ratio. It is connected to the analog reference input of frequency inverters and similar drives to set the motor speed or another setpoint manually.
What should I compare when choosing Analog Potentiometers?
Select the resistance value by the value required in the drive manual, the number of turns by the adjustment sensitivity, the housing by the mounting diameter and the IP rating required by the environment.
Where can I find technical details for Analog Potentiometers products?
An analog potentiometer does not generate a signal on its own and must not be confused with a powered digital potentiometer that gives a 0-10 V or 4-20 mA output.
