Gland Nuts

A gland nut is a hexagonal lock nut with a metric or PG thread that is fitted from inside the enclosure onto the threaded neck of a cable gland or blind plug and secures the part to the sheet metal or box wall. It is used when connecting a gland to plain holes with no thread cut, for example in sheet metal enclosures and plastic boxes, so that the gland stays in place without turning or loosening. This group has two subcategories: Ortaç nickel-plated brass nuts and EMC-type brass nuts, and Ortaç and Isıso polyamide nuts. Sizes are in metric threads such as M 12, M 20, M 40 and M 63 and PG threads such as PG 9, PG 16, PG 29 and PG 48. Choose the nut in the same thread type and size as the gland, in a material compatible with the gland body, and at a height suited to the thread remaining after the wall thickness. At entries that use an EMC gland for a shielded cable, an EMC-type nut designed to make conductive contact with the enclosure surface is preferred. Gland nuts are made for PG and fine-pitch metric gland threads; for example, since the M 20 gland thread has a pitch of 1.5 mm and a standard M 20 bolt thread has a pitch of 2.5 mm, a gland nut does not fit the bolt.
