Contact Sprays

Contact spray is an aerosol cleaner that dissolves oxide, dirt and grease layers on electrical and electronic contact surfaces to lower contact resistance. It is used to clean dirty contacts that cause intermittent contact, crackling and heating in switches, connectors, relay contacts, potentiometers and circuit board connections. This category includes Hawcon HW-01 oil-free and HW-02 oiled contact sprays in 200 ml packages. Choose the contact spray according to the surface it will be applied to; the oil-free type evaporates without leaving residue, so it is preferred on circuit boards and sensitive electronics, while the oiled type leaves a thin protective film and is preferred on moving contacts such as switches and potentiometers. Compatibility with plastic, rubber and painted surfaces, and how long to wait after application before energizing, should be read on the product label. Rust inhibitor and general-purpose lubricant sprays leave a film on the contact surface and therefore do not replace an oil-free contact cleaner.

  • Identify the measurement or fastening task and the required insulation safety rating.
  • Select jaw profile, cross-section range and accessories for the conductor or fastener standard.
  • Check CAT voltage category and replacement tip or die availability for field conditions.
