Siemens AS-Interface (AS-i) Communication Modules

AS-Interface (AS-i) communication modules are industrial fieldbus components that connect field sensors and actuators to a higher-level PLC system over a single two-wire line in machine and plant automation. They are used on conveyor lines, packaging machinery and process plants to gather distributed I/O points without complex point-to-point wiring. This category includes Siemens 3RK and 3RX AS-i digital and analog I/O modules, ASIsafe safety modules, S7-1200/ET200SP master cards, power supplies, repeaters, M12 splitters and yellow/black AS-i flat cables. Choose the module according to the number and type of field I/O points (DI/DO or AI/AO), ingress protection rating (in-cabinet IP20 or field-mount IP67) and the host PLC family. While the standard yellow AS-i flat cable carries both data and power, the black AS-i cable is run alongside where 24V DC auxiliary actuator power is required. AS-i modules are designed for the lower sensor-actuator level: they do not replace industrial ethernet switches on high-bandwidth plant backbones.
