Analog Ammeters

An analog ammeter is a panel-mount measuring instrument that shows the current value with a pointer moving over a scale. It is preferred in motor, heater and distribution panels for monitoring load current at a glance and for spotting changes in current from the position of the pointer. This category includes direct-connected Tense models with a 90° scale angle and 72 × 72 mm and 96 × 96 mm front panel dimensions; measuring ranges such as 10 A, 30 A, 60 A and 100 A are offered. Select the model by measuring range, front panel dimension and connection style; the full-scale value must stay above the operating current of the line. In a direct connection the entire line current passes through the terminals of the device, so the connecting conductor must also be suitable for that current. A direct-connected analog ammeter must not be confused with an ammeter with an X/5 A input that is connected to the secondary of a current transformer; the two cannot be used in place of each other.

How to choose Analog Ammeters

An analog ammeter is a panel-mount measuring instrument that shows the current value with a pointer moving over a scale. It is preferred in motor, heater and distribution panels for monitoring load current at a glance and for spotting changes in current from the position of the pointer.

  • Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
  • Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
  • Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
