Nickel-Plated Brass Glands
A nickel-plated brass gland is a metal cable gland whose brass body is plated with nickel and which seals the panel entry by clamping the cable with its inner seal. It is used on machine housings subject to impact and vibration, in metal panels and in motor terminal boxes, when higher mechanical strength than a plastic gland is required. In this group, Ortaç's nickel-plated brass glands and TP Elektrik's cable glands with metal nuts are available in metric threads such as M20x1.5, M40x1.5 and M63x1.5 and PG threads such as PG 9, PG 16 and PG 42; Ortaç also has large sizes such as M 80 and M 90 and long-thread bodies. For TP Elektrik models, the protection rating is stated as IP 68. Choose the brass gland according to thread type and size, the clamping range matching the cable outer diameter, whether the thread length is sufficient for the housing thickness and the required IP rating. Because the clamping range of a brass gland may differ from a polyamide gland of the same thread, verify the cable diameter from the product data. A standard brass gland does not connect the shield of a shielded cable to the housing; it should not be confused with the EMC-type earthed gland made for this purpose.
