Panel Mounting Rails

A panel rail (DIN mounting rail) is a metal or plastic carrier profile on which miniature circuit breakers, residual current devices, contactors, terminal blocks and similar modular devices are snapped in place inside a panel. It is used in distribution, control and automation panels to line up devices at the same level so that they can be removed and installed. This page includes Gwest's galvanized slotted and solid rails, 35 mm wide and 7.5 mm deep, in 30 cm, 1 m and 2 m lengths, Konsan's slotted W MCB rails, and TP Elektrik's plastic rails and rail holder. A width of 35 mm and a depth of 7.5 mm is the top-hat rail size defined in EN 60715, on which most modular devices are mounted. Choose the rail by the profile size the devices to be installed require, whether it is slotted or solid, its material, and a length that fits the panel width. On a slotted rail, screws pass through the ready-made holes, while a solid rail is drilled according to the mounting points. A panel mounting rail should not be confused with a track spotlight rail or a busbar that distributes power: the mounting rail carries devices, and the power connection is made separately with cable or busbar.

How to choose Rails

A panel rail (DIN mounting rail) is a metal or plastic carrier profile on which miniature circuit breakers, residual current devices, contactors, terminal blocks and similar modular devices are snapped in place inside a panel. It is used in distribution, control and automation panels to line up devices at the same level so that they can be removed and installed.

  • Clarify whether the task is connection, cable routing, enclosure distribution or termination.
  • Match dimensions, thread standard, conductor cross-section and IP rating with the cable and panel.
  • Choose housing material and pack quantity according to the mounting environment.
