Line Interactive UPS
A line interactive UPS is an uninterruptible power supply that normally supplies the load from the mains, corrects voltage fluctuations with an internal automatic voltage regulator (AVR), and in an outage switches on its inverter and supplies the load from the battery. It is used to ride through short outages in loads that tolerate a short transfer time, such as computers, cash registers, modems, camera recorders and small office network equipment. This category includes Siel models with power ratings such as 600 VA, 1200 VA, 2000 VA and 3000 VA. Choose the UPS by the total power of the devices to be connected (VA and W), the battery runtime required, the number of output sockets, and the output waveform. The VA value is apparent power; the active power (W) the UPS can carry is stated separately in the manufacturer's data, and the load total must not exceed this value. Because a short transfer time occurs during an outage, a line interactive UPS does not replace an online UPS, which supplies the load continuously from the inverter, for loads sensitive to this time.
