Liquid Level Relays

A liquid level relay is an electronic relay that detects the level by monitoring the resistance between electrodes immersed in a conductive liquid and controls a pump or valve through a contact output. It is used inside panels in applications such as filling water tanks, emptying wells and drainage pits, protecting pumps against dry running, and maintaining the water level in steam iron boilers. The category includes Tense SSR and VSR series and Entes SSRC-04 models; there are types with 220 V AC, 230 V AC and 24 V supply, DIN rail type and V-Otomat housing, liquid sensitivity adjustable between 5 kΩ and 100 kΩ, and types made for steam iron boilers. Choose the relay according to the supply voltage, a sensitivity range suited to the conductivity of the liquid, the filling or emptying function, the number of electrodes and the case type inside the panel. Because sensing relies on conductivity, an electrode relay does not work in liquids with very low conductivity such as oil, fuel and pure water. A liquid level relay only gives on-off information at set points; it is not a level transmitter that measures the level continuously.

  • Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
  • Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
  • Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
