NTC Temperature Probes

An NTC temperature probe is a temperature sensor with a thermistor element whose resistance decreases as temperature rises, enclosed in a sheath and supplied with its cable ready. It is preferred in cooling cabinets, cold rooms, air conditioning and heating systems and in low and medium temperature measurements where digital thermostats with an NTC input are used. This category includes Enda, GEMO, Isıso and Tense plastic, thermoplastic and stainless steel sheathed NTC probes with PVC and silicone cable, with and without fitting, and drop type; the product data lists an NTC value of 10 kΩ and upper temperature limits of 105 °C and 150 °C. Select the probe first by the NTC value your device requires, then by measuring range, sheath material and connection style, and cable insulation and length. If the probe supplied with a thermostat is being replaced, take the probe type specified by the device manufacturer as the basis. An NTC probe is not a substitute for a PT100 or thermocouple; because the resistance curve is different, the correct value is read only on devices with an NTC input that work with the same NTC value.

How to choose NTC Temperature Probes

An NTC temperature probe is a temperature sensor with a thermistor element whose resistance decreases as temperature rises, enclosed in a sheath and supplied with its cable ready. It is preferred in cooling cabinets, cold rooms, air conditioning and heating systems and in low and medium temperature measurements where digital thermostats with an NTC input are used.

  • Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
  • Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
  • Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
