Cylindrical Cartridge Fuses

A cylindrical cartridge fuse is a fusible fuse link with a cylindrical body and metal caps at both ends, made in standard sizes such as 10x38 and 14x51 mm. Fitted into fuse holders and fused disconnectors, it protects control circuits, small motor outputs and photovoltaic array lines. The Schneider Electric DF2 series lists fuse links in sizes 8x31, 10x38 and 14x51 with values such as 6 A, 10 A, 16 A, 20 A, 25 A and 40 A, the ABB E 9F PV series lists DC cartridge fuses for solar arrays, and TP Elektrik 10x38 fuses are also listed. Choose the cartridge fuse first by the body size that fits the holder, then by rated current, AC or DC rated voltage and duty class (gG for general purpose, aM for motor circuits, gPV for photovoltaic). A cartridge made for AC circuits is not a substitute for a gPV fuse on a DC photovoltaic line, even if the size is the same; photovoltaic fuses fall under IEC 60269-6.

How to choose Cylindrical Cartridge Fuses

A cylindrical cartridge fuse is a fusible fuse link with a cylindrical body and metal caps at both ends, made in standard sizes such as 10x38 and 14x51 mm. Fitted into fuse holders and fused disconnectors, it protects control circuits, small motor outputs and photovoltaic array lines.

  • Separate overcurrent/leakage protection, motor starting and local isolation requirements.
  • Select rated current, pole count and breaking capacity (kA) from the installation calculation.
  • Match coil voltage, auxiliary contacts and tripping curve to the control circuit and load type.

Frequently asked questions

What is Cylindrical Cartridge Fuses and where is it used?

A cylindrical cartridge fuse is a fusible fuse link with a cylindrical body and metal caps at both ends, made in standard sizes such as 10x38 and 14x51 mm. Fitted into fuse holders and fused disconnectors, it protects control circuits, small motor outputs and photovoltaic array lines.

What should I compare when choosing Cylindrical Cartridge Fuses?

Choose the cartridge fuse first by the body size that fits the holder, then by rated current, AC or DC rated voltage and duty class (gG for general purpose, aM for motor circuits, gPV for photovoltaic).

Where can I find technical details for Cylindrical Cartridge Fuses products?
