GMT Digital Output Modules
A digital output module is an expansion module that passes the on-off commands of the PLC program through transistor or relay outputs to loads such as contactor coils, solenoid valves and warning lights. It is used in machine panels and on conveyor and packaging lines when the CPU's built-in outputs are not enough or a different type of output is required. This category includes models with 8, 12, 16 and 32 channels and NPN, PNP and relay outputs from ABB AC500 and AC500-eCo, Delta Electronics and GMT. Select the output module first according to whether the load is AC or DC and the output type (NPN, PNP or relay), then according to the current per channel, the channel count and your PLC series. Verify from the module datasheet whether a suppression element is needed for inductive loads and the total current limit per group. A transistor output is not a substitute for a relay output: it switches only DC loads, and AC coils require a module with relay outputs or an interposing relay.

- Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
- Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
- Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
