PLC Power Modules

A PLC power module (additional power supply module) is an intermediate supply module that supports module supply or I/O supply at a station where I/O modules are lined up side by side. It is used as an additional supply point when the number of modules grows and the station's existing module or I/O supply is not enough. This category contains, from the Delta Electronics AX-5 series, a 24 V DC 2 A module auxiliary power supply and a 24 V DC 10 A I/O auxiliary power supply, and from the R1 series an auxiliary power supply module with 24 V DC input and 5 V DC 2 A output. Select the module according to the Delta series you use, whether the side to be supplied is the module supply or the I/O supply, the current required and the total consumption of the modules in the station. Determine where and how many additional supplies are needed according to the power calculation in the series installation manual. A power module is not a substitute for a panel-type power supply that produces 24 V DC from mains voltage; it is itself supplied with 24 V DC and distributes or converts this voltage within the station.

How to choose Power Modules

A PLC power module (additional power supply module) is an intermediate supply module that supports module supply or I/O supply at a station where I/O modules are lined up side by side. It is used as an additional supply point when the number of modules grows and the station's existing module or I/O supply is not enough.

  • Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
  • Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
  • Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
