TTR Cables Selection Guide
TTR is a trade name for H05VV-F cable; when choosing, check the code, the core notation (3G1.5, 3X1.5) and the cross-section.
This guide explains what to look at when choosing products in the TTR Cables category.
How to read the H05VV-F code and product name
TTR is a market name; the standard designation of the cable is the H05VV-F code, which also appears in product names. The code is read from left to right according to the harmonized designation system.
- H: harmonized type.
- 05: 300/500 V rated voltage.
- V, V: the first letter indicates PVC insulation, the second letter the PVC outer sheath.
- F: flexible conductor made of fine strands.
In manufacturer datasheets the core information is also written as 3G1.5 or 3X1.5. G indicates that one of the cores is a green-yellow protective conductor; X indicates that the cable has no green-yellow core. Product names in this category use the general notation such as "3x1.5 mm²"; if you are preparing a grounded appliance or an extension cord, verify the core colors from the manufacturer's technical datasheet.
The harmonized code does not cover every cross-section. Öznur Kablo supplies constructions with 2 to 5 cores from 0.75 mm² up to 4 mm² under the code H05VV-F (HAR), and cross-sections between 6 mm² and 16 mm² as well as constructions with 7 or more cores under the same TS EN 50525-2-11 standard with the code 05VV-F, without the leading H. Product names in this category write H05VV-F for the larger cross-sections too; if the specification calls for a harmonized type in a 6 mm² or larger or a 7-core construction, verify the type code from the manufacturer's technical datasheet.
How to choose the number of cores and the cross-section
- 2 cores: double-insulated appliances and luminaires that do not require a protective conductor.
- 3 cores: single-phase appliances with phase, neutral and protective conductors, and grounded extension cords.
- 4 cores: loads fed with three phases and a protective conductor that do not require a neutral.
- 5 cores: appliances that need three phases, neutral and a protective conductor.
For the cross-section, first find the current the appliance draws; the active power to current and fuse calculation tool gives the current from the power value. For long extension cords you can make a preliminary check of the voltage at the end of the line with the voltage drop calculation tool. An extension cord used while wound on a reel cannot dissipate the heat of the cable; the power values the reel manufacturer gives for the wound and unwound states are used as the basis. On an extension line, the rated current of the plug, the socket and the protective device is also evaluated together with the cable.
Place of use and sheath color
In manufacturer data, the place of use of H05VV-F is defined as household appliances, enclosed and dry locations, and humid and damp locations; mechanical stress is limited to a medium level. Underground laying and permanent outdoor environments are outside this definition; in such places the cable type is selected according to the project and manufacturer data. The permitted operating temperature is 70 °C; for connections near hot surfaces such as heaters, ovens and floodlights, silicone cables are a separate group.
For the same brand and size, the sheath color does not change the type code or the rated voltage. A white sheath is preferred for visible indoor connections and light-colored appliances, a black sheath for workshop and machine connections.
The difference between TTR and similar cables
- NYAF cables: single-core flexible conductors without an outer sheath; used for wiring inside enclosures and devices. TTR gathers several cores in a common sheath.
- NYM Antigron cables: fixed installation cables for flush-mounted and surface-mounted wiring; they are not made for plugged-in, moving connections.
- NYY cables: power cables laid in a fixed manner underground and in cable trunking.
- H05VV5-F control cables: although the code is similar, this is a machine control cable; the V5 in the code indicates an oil-resistant PVC sheath, and the sheath of TTR is not in this class.
Brands in this category
HES Kablo, Win Kablo, Ünal Kablo, Prysmian Kablo, Koç Kablo, Nexans Kablo and Öznur Kablo list TTR cable in this category with 2, 3, 4 and 5 cores and black and white sheaths; HES Kablo and Prysmian Kablo also have 7-core constructions. Common cross-sections are available from all of these brands, while fewer brands list the larger cross-sections.
Order notes
- The sales unit is the meter. Black and white sheathed versions of the same size are separate products; use the Color and Cross-Section filters together.
- For sizes listed with a lead time, the delivery time is confirmed before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Are TTR cable and H05VV-F the same cable?
Yes. TTR is the market name used in Türkiye; H05VV-F is the harmonized type code of the same cable. The code describes a cable with 300/500 V rated voltage, PVC insulation, PVC sheath and fine-stranded flexible conductors. In manufacturer data the TS EN 50525-2-11 standard is given for this type. Öznur Kablo uses the harmonized code for cross-sections up to 4 mm² and supplies larger cross-sections under the same standard with the code 05VV-F.
How many amperes does a 3x2.5 mm² TTR cable carry?
In Öznur Kablo's H05VV-F table, the current rating in air is given as 16 A for 3x1.5 mm² and 25 A for 3x2.5 mm². This is a table value; the current that can be carried decreases when the ambient temperature rises, when the cable is used wound on a reel, or when it runs side by side with other cables. On an extension line, the rated current of the plug, the socket and the fuse protecting the line is also limiting; on long lines, voltage drop is checked separately.
Can TTR cable be used outdoors or underground?
In manufacturer data, the place of use of H05VV-F is defined as household appliances, enclosed and dry locations, and humid and damp locations. Underground laying and permanent outdoor environments are not within this definition. For underground power lines, cables made for this purpose such as NYY are used; for temporary connections outdoors, the cable type is selected according to the project and manufacturer data.
What is the difference between the 3G1.5 and 3x1.5 notations?
Both describe three cores of 1.5 mm² cross-section. In the harmonized designation, G indicates that one of the cores is a green-yellow protective conductor, while X indicates that the cable has no green-yellow core. The store's product names use 3x1.5 mm² as the general notation; if a grounded connection is to be made, the core colors are verified from the manufacturer's technical datasheet.
Is there a technical difference between black and white TTR cable?
For the same brand, number of cores and cross-section, the color does not change the type code or the rated voltage of the cable; the difference is in the color of the sheath. A white sheath is preferred for visible indoor connections and light-colored appliances, a black sheath for workshop and machine connections. If you have a special expectation such as resistance to sunlight, do not make assumptions based on color; check the manufacturer data.
