CEE Standard Plugs and Sockets

CEE standard plugs and sockets are industrial connection elements whose dimensions and contact arrangement are defined by the IEC 60309 standard, used for the detachable connection of single-phase and three-phase loads. They are used to supply factory machines, construction site panels, generators and stage equipment. Extension plugs and sockets, straight and angled panel sockets, panel plugs, wall sockets and plugs, switched sockets and adapters are available from TP Elektrik, Bemis, Schneider Electric and PCE. Choose the plug and socket by rated current, pole arrangement, voltage and clock position, IP protection rating and mounting style; a plug with a different current, pole arrangement or clock position does not fit the socket. Designations such as 3x16A, 4x32A and 5x63A in the product names give the number of contacts and the current: in mains-voltage series, three contacts means 2P+E single-phase, four contacts means 3P+E without neutral, and five contacts means 3P+N+E three-phase with neutral. The clock position shows the location of the earth contact and varies with voltage and frequency; on a 50/60 Hz mains, 200-250 V single-phase and 380-415 V three-phase products are in the 6h position.
