CEE Extension Plugs

A CEE extension plug is a portable CEE standard plug with male contacts, also known as a straight plug, connected to the end of a flexible cable. It is used on the supply cables of machines, hand tools and portable panels, and at the end of extension cords that plugs into the socket. This category includes TP Elektrik, Bemis, PCE and Bals plugs at 16 A, 32 A, 63 A and 125 A currents, in contact arrangements such as 3x16A, 4x32A and 5x32A, in IP44 and IP67 ratings; besides the straight housing, there are also angled, 90° rotating and phase-inverter plugs. Select the plug with a rated current suited to the cable cross-section and the load current, the same pole arrangement, voltage and clock position as the socket it will be inserted into, and the IP rating required by the environment. In mains voltage series, the housing and pin dimensions differ for each current level, so a 16 A plug cannot be inserted into a 32 A socket. In screw-connection types the conductor is tightened with a terminal screw, while screwless terminals are used in quick-connection types. An extension plug is made for free use at the end of a cable and does not replace a panel plug fixed to a machine housing.
