AC 2-Wire Inductive Sensors

AC 2-wire inductive sensors are two-terminal proximity sensors that run on alternating voltage, are connected in series with the load and detect metal objects without contact. They are used in panels without a DC supply to switch small loads such as a relay coil or an AC-input PLC card. This category includes Lanbao and Isıso branded M12, M18 and M30 cylindrical housings and a 40x40x120 mm square housing that works on AC and DC voltage; sensing distances are values such as 2 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 10 mm and 15 mm. Choose the operating voltage, load current, NO or NC output, housing diameter, sensing distance and cable, connector or terminal connection according to the load you will drive. In a two-wire design a small leakage current passes through the load even when the sensor is off; the load's release current and the sensor's minimum load current should be verified from the manufacturer's data. An AC 2-wire sensor does not replace a 3-wire NPN or PNP sensor powered by 24 V DC; the supply voltage and wiring are different.

How to choose AC 2-Wire Inductive Sensors

AC 2-wire inductive sensors are two-terminal proximity sensors that run on alternating voltage, are connected in series with the load and detect metal objects without contact. They are used in panels without a DC supply to switch small loads such as a relay coil or an AC-input PLC card.

  • Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
  • Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
  • Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
