Analog Inductive Sensors

Analog inductive sensors are non-contact distance sensors that produce a continuous voltage or current signal proportional to the distance of a metal target. They are used in applications where presence/absence information is not enough and the position or approach of a metal part is monitored continuously. The Lanbao models in this category provide both 0-10 V and 0-20 mA output; besides M12, M18 and M30 cylindrical housings there are 40x40 mm square housings, and the measuring ranges are specified as 0.8-4 mm, 1.6-8 mm and 3-15 mm. Choose the measuring range, housing size, output signal, response frequency and connection type according to the travel distance of the target and your analog input module. The connection is a 2 m cable or an M12 connector; refer to the manufacturer's data for the supply voltage, load resistance limits and the output curve, which changes for metals other than steel. An analog inductive sensor is not a switching-output sensor that gives only presence/absence information; its signal cannot be read by a PLC digital input, and an analog input is required.

How to choose Analog Inductive Sensors

Analog inductive sensors are non-contact distance sensors that produce a continuous voltage or current signal proportional to the distance of a metal target. They are used in applications where presence/absence information is not enough and the position or approach of a metal part is monitored continuously.

  • Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
  • Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
  • Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
