Steel Head DC 3-Wire Inductive Sensors

Steel head DC 3-wire inductive sensors are all-metal inductive sensors whose sensing face is also steel along with the housing, made for spots exposed to impact and wear. They are used on machine tools, presses and conveying lines where a plastic sensing face wears out from chips, part impacts or abrasive contact. This category includes Lanbao branded flush-head M12, M18 and M30 models; the sensing distances are specified as 2 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm respectively, with a 10-30 V DC supply. Choose the housing diameter, sensing distance, NPN or PNP output, switching frequency and 2 m cable or M12 connector connection according to the mounting location and PLC input type. The switching frequency is given in the product data as 100 Hz, 200 Hz and 300 Hz; in fast counting jobs this value must keep up with how often the target passes. A steel head sensor is not the same product as a standard inductive sensor whose housing alone is metal; in standard models the sensing face is plastic.

How to choose Steel Head DC 3-Wire Inductive Sensors

Steel head DC 3-wire inductive sensors are all-metal inductive sensors whose sensing face is also steel along with the housing, made for spots exposed to impact and wear. They are used on machine tools, presses and conveying lines where a plastic sensing face wears out from chips, part impacts or abrasive contact.

  • Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
  • Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
  • Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
