Inductive Sensors

An inductive sensor is a proximity sensor that detects metal objects entering the high-frequency electromagnetic field it generates, without touching them. It is used in machines for end-of-stroke and spindle position detection, counting revolutions on a gear and checking the presence of metal parts; it does not detect plastic, wood or liquid. The subcategories cover M8, M12, M18 and M30 cylindrical housings, square and rectangular types, and DC 2-wire, AC 2-wire and analog output groups. The products are Lanbao and Isıso branded; DC models show a 10-30 V DC supply, NPN or PNP, and NO, NC or NO+NC output types. Choose the housing size, flush or non-flush head, sensing distance, output type, switching frequency and connection style according to the target metal, the mounting location and the PLC input card. A flush-head sensor can be mounted level with a metal surface; a non-flush-head sensor gives a longer distance but needs a metal-free zone around it. The rated sensing distance is given for a standard steel target; the distance is shorter for stainless steel, aluminum, brass and copper.

  • Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
  • Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
  • Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
