Light Barriers
Light barriers are area-scanning optical sensors that monitor whether the many parallel beams from a transmitter bar reach the receiver bar opposite and give an output when one of the beams is interrupted. They are used for passage, presence and height monitoring tasks on conveyor lines and at material passage points, to detect irregularly shaped or position-varying objects that a single-beam photoelectric sensor might miss. The category includes Isıso ISCB-GB models with protection heights of 25 cm, 30 cm, 50 cm, 75 cm and 1 m, 24 V DC supply, PNP NC output, and a built-in RS-485 and analog module. Determine the protection height according to the opening to be scanned; compare with the manufacturer data whether the beam spacing suits the smallest object to be detected, whether the PNP NC output and 24 V DC supply suit your control circuit, and whether you need the RS-485 or analog module. These products are not certified safety light curtains used for operator protection and cannot be used in their place; the product data states that there is no safety certification.

How to choose Light Barriers
Light barriers are area-scanning optical sensors that monitor whether the many parallel beams from a transmitter bar reach the receiver bar opposite and give an output when one of the beams is interrupted. They are used for passage, presence and height monitoring tasks on conveyor lines and at material passage points, to detect irregularly shaped or position-varying objects that a single-beam photoelectric sensor might miss.
- Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
- Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
- Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
Frequently asked questions
