Magnetic and Piston Sensors
Magnetic sensors are contactless sensors that switch by detecting the field of a magnet coming toward them; piston sensors are the types mounted externally on the body of a pneumatic cylinder that detect the magnet on the piston. They are used to obtain end-of-stroke and intermediate position information on pneumatic cylinders, and to monitor the position of doors, covers and moving parts fitted with a magnet. The category includes Isıso-brand magnetic sensors with M8, M12 and M18 housings, 5 mm and 10 mm sensing distances and 10-30 V DC supply with NPN NO and PNP NO outputs, as well as piston sensors with a PNP NO output and NO output operating at 5-240 V AC/DC. For a piston sensor, determine the body that fits the cylinder's slot or mounting part; for a cylindrical magnetic sensor, determine the housing diameter and sensing distance; choose the supply voltage and output type according to your control circuit. They must not be confused with inductive sensors; a magnetic sensor detects the magnet, not a metal part, and a piston sensor does not work on a cylinder whose piston has no magnet.

- Separate sensing, motion control, logic processing and operator interface requirements.
- Select signal type, supply voltage, communication protocol and I/O count for the machine network.
- Verify housing size, sensing distance and PNP/NPN output polarity against the PLC input card.
Frequently asked questions
What is Magnetic and Piston Sensors and where is it used?
Magnetic sensors are contactless sensors that switch by detecting the field of a magnet coming toward them; piston sensors are the types mounted externally on the body of a pneumatic cylinder that detect the magnet on the piston. They are used to obtain end-of-stroke and intermediate position information on pneumatic cylinders, and to monitor the position of doors, covers and moving parts fitted with a magnet.
What should I compare when choosing Magnetic and Piston Sensors?
For a piston sensor, determine the body that fits the cylinder's slot or mounting part; for a cylindrical magnetic sensor, determine the housing diameter and sensing distance; choose the supply voltage and output type according to your control circuit.
Where can I find technical details for Magnetic and Piston Sensors products?
They must not be confused with inductive sensors; a magnetic sensor detects the magnet, not a metal part, and a piston sensor does not work on a cylinder whose piston has no magnet.
