Signal Cables

Signal cables are multicore low-current cables with fine-stranded copper conductors, made to carry measurement, data and control signals at low current. They are used between PLC inputs and outputs and sensors, encoders and load cells, in building automation, alarm and card access systems, and in serial communication lines between devices. The subcategories are divided by type code: LIYY and LIYCY are PVC types, while LIHH and LIHCH are halogen-free types; in the code, C indicates a copper braid shield, (St) an aluminum foil shield, 2Y polyethylene insulation or sheath, and TP twisted pairs. Products from brands such as Reçber Kablo, Mekas Kablo, Birtaş Kablo and 2M Kablo are sold by the meter in cross-sections such as 6x0.22 mm², 8x0.75 mm² and 3x2x1 mm². First choose the sheath according to the environment (PVC, halogen-free, or PE for outdoor use), then the shield according to the noise level (unshielded, braid, foil or both together), and finally the number of cores or pairs and the cross-section according to line length. Signal cables are not designed for power circuits such as motor supply; a control or power cable is used for those jobs.

How to choose Signal Cables

Signal cables are multicore low-current cables with fine-stranded copper conductors, made to carry measurement, data and control signals at low current. They are used between PLC inputs and outputs and sensors, encoders and load cells, in building automation, alarm and card access systems, and in serial communication lines between devices.

  • Clarify the circuit duty first: power distribution, control, fire safety, Ethernet or analog signal.
  • Compare conductor cross-section, core count, insulation and shielding against the installation route.
  • Switch to the proper cable family early when flex duty, oil resistance, halogen-free jacket or fire integrity is required.
