Modular Switches

Modular switches are DIN rail switches that mount on the same DIN rail as miniature circuit breakers inside the panel and open and close a circuit manually or transfer it between two outputs. They are used in distribution and control panels to switch lighting groups and loads such as fans and pumps on manually, or to route a line to one of two outputs. This category includes ABB E213 changeover switches and E214 group switches with a 25 A rated current; the models have 1 or 2 changeover (CO) contacts. Compare the rated current and voltage, the number of contacts, the position arrangement and the conductor cross-section the terminal accepts against your circuit diagram. A modular switch is not a protection device; overcurrent and short-circuit protection is provided by the miniature circuit breaker on the same line.

How to choose Modular Switches

Modular switches are DIN rail switches that mount on the same DIN rail as miniature circuit breakers inside the panel and open and close a circuit manually or transfer it between two outputs. They are used in distribution and control panels to switch lighting groups and loads such as fans and pumps on manually, or to route a line to one of two outputs.

  • Separate overcurrent/leakage protection, motor starting and local isolation requirements.
  • Select rated current, pole count and breaking capacity (kA) from the installation calculation.
  • Match coil voltage, auxiliary contacts and tripping curve to the control circuit and load type.

Frequently asked questions

What is Modular Switches and where is it used?

Modular switches are DIN rail switches that mount on the same DIN rail as miniature circuit breakers inside the panel and open and close a circuit manually or transfer it between two outputs. They are used in distribution and control panels to switch lighting groups and loads such as fans and pumps on manually, or to route a line to one of two outputs.

What should I compare when choosing Modular Switches?

Compare the rated current and voltage, the number of contacts, the position arrangement and the conductor cross-section the terminal accepts against your circuit diagram.

Where can I find technical details for Modular Switches products?

A modular switch is not a protection device; overcurrent and short-circuit protection is provided by the miniature circuit breaker on the same line.
