CAT6a Cables

CAT6a cable is a four-twisted-pair copper data cable defined up to 500 MHz bandwidth that can carry 10 Gbps Ethernet over a 100-meter link. It is used on building backbone and floor distribution lines, in data centers, in new office structured cabling, and for wireless access points that require multi-gigabit connections. In this category, CAT6a cables made by Reçber, Birtaş and Erse in a 4x2x23 AWG construction are sold by the meter in U/UTP, F/UTP, U/FTP, F/FTP and S/FTP shield constructions, with LSZH or PE sheaths and reaction-to-fire classes such as Cca and B2ca. Choose the shield construction according to interference from neighboring cables and power lines, the sheath material according to indoor or outdoor installation, the reaction-to-fire class according to the project specification, and the steel-armored construction according to the need for mechanical protection. In the shield code, the letter before the slash indicates the overall shield and the part after it the pair shielding: in a U/FTP construction only the pairs are foil-wrapped, and in an S/FTP construction an overall braid shield is added to this. CAT6a should not be confused with CAT6: on a CAT6 cable defined up to 250 MHz, the link length for 10 Gbps becomes shorter.

How to choose CAT6a Cables

CAT6a cable is a four-twisted-pair copper data cable defined up to 500 MHz bandwidth that can carry 10 Gbps Ethernet over a 100-meter link. It is used on building backbone and floor distribution lines, in data centers, in new office structured cabling, and for wireless access points that require multi-gigabit connections.

  • Clarify the circuit duty first: power distribution, control, fire safety, Ethernet or analog signal.
  • Compare conductor cross-section, core count, insulation and shielding against the installation route.
  • Switch to the proper cable family early when flex duty, oil resistance, halogen-free jacket or fire integrity is required.
